This weekend Ponca State Park will again be host to the second annual Missouri River Outdoor Expo. This is a family-oriented event with the emphasis being "to acquaint, or reacquaint kids and their parents with some of the outdoor things that go on in Northeast Nebraska, Southeast South Dakota, and Northwest Iowa," says Clayton Stalling, northeast district wildlife manager for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
The event is free, excepting the entrance fee to get into Ponca State Park. The Expo starts this Saturday from 9am to 6pm, and on Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Expo activities include fishing, fly fishing, ice fishing, muzzle loading, shotgun hunting, archery, hiking, camping, kayaking, canoeing, outdoor cooking, arrowhead and bow making, boating, bird banding, game calling, mountain biking, outdoor survival, wildlife observation, conservation, and fish cleaning. There will also be activities specifically for children including bb gun shooting, animal shows, fishing simulation, duck calling, and more.
