Since my plans fell through to go on a camping trip with two of my sons, I decided we'd should at least find somewhere to go.  So I dug into the Nebraska Atlas and Gazetteer and remembered Merganser Lake.  The lake is a Lower Platte South NRD lake.  The property covers 103 acres, and the lake itself spans 41 surface acres.  It's a fishable lake containing bluegill, largemouth bass, and channel catfish.  No entry fee is required, but fishing and hunting permits are required.  Primitive camping is available, although I don't recall seeing any specifically designated area so I presume you could camp anywhere within reason.

My son and I took the neighbor boy, his friend, along with us.  We spent a few hours there pretty much just getting the boys a chance to learn casting and to get familiar with simple fishing.  We went there in the evening and I'd guess a better time to go fishing there would be mornings.  We didn't get any hits, but as I said it was more for their benefit of getting used to and being around fishing.

Here are a few pictures I took of the lake as well as video of the lake...
